In this post, I will show you how to make your Threads feed more personal by only showing you posts from people you actually follow. I will also explain why your Threads feed might be full of accounts you don’t follow and what you can do about it

  1. Open the Threads app.
  2. Tap the profile icon in the bottom left corner.
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Notifications.
  6. Under Threads and replies, toggle the switch from Everyone to From people you follow.

This will ensure that your Threads feed only shows you posts from people you actually follow. You can also customize this setting for specific types of notifications, such as first threads, likes, replies, mentions, reposts, and quotes.

Why is my Threads feed full of accounts I don’t follow?

Instagram is currently experimenting with a new algorithm for Threads that shows users posts from people they don’t follow. This is in an effort to make Threads more engaging and to help users discover new content. However, if you’re not interested in seeing posts from people you don’t follow, you can follow the steps above to change your settings.

I still see posts from accounts I don’t follow after changing my settings.

If you’re still seeing posts from accounts you don’t follow after changing your settings, it may be because you’ve interacted with those accounts in the past. For example, if you’ve liked a post from an account you don’t follow, Instagram may continue to show you posts from that account. You can also see posts from accounts you don’t follow if you’re a part of the same group chat.

If you’re not interested in seeing posts from accounts you don’t follow, you can try unfollowing those accounts or blocking them. You can also try clearing your Threads cache. To do this, open the Threads app and tap the profile icon in the bottom left corner. Then, tap the three dots in the top right corner and select Settings. Scroll down and tap Clear cache.
